BL-600MT is composed of sodium polyacrylate, a highly hygroscopic white powder that is odorless and tasteless. As a polymer containing both hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups, its molecular formula is [CH₂CHCOONa]ₙ. It dissolves slowly in water to form a colorless, viscous, transparent liquid, with a viscosity of approximately 1000 cps at a 0.5% concentration.
Viscosity Mechanism: Its thickening effect arises not from water absorption but from the elongation of molecular chains due to ionic interactions among anionic groups. This results in a viscosity 15–20 times higher than CMC or sodium alginate at equivalent concentrations. Viscosity remains stable under heat, neutral salts, or organic acids but increases under alkaline conditions. Long-term storage and temperature variations minimally affect viscosity.
Solubility & Stability: Insoluble in ethanol, or other organic solvents. Resists decomposition at temperatures up to 300°C and does not rancidify.
Sensory Benefits: Imparts a silky, hydrating feel to skin and hair, meeting consumer expectations for premium personal care products.
Foam Enhancement: Improves foam density and stability in shampoos, body washes, and soap-based products without compromising cleansing efficacy. Compatible with surfactant systems.
